Bear Rescue!

Bear Rescue!

Once upon a time, there was a guy named John. He loved hiking, so much in fact, his hiking journeys usually lasted for weeks to months.

One day, John packed his bags ready to go on a hike up in the mountains. He packed his food, water, resources, sleeping bag, tent and more useful equipment and set off. He started slow as he wanted to preserve energy for the steep climb that was ahead of him. He saw many things while hiking up a mountain. He went through a forest with frogs, monkeys, birds, snakes and a loud roar; it was a BEAR! As soon John heard the roar and saw the bear, he ran for his life hoping the bear wouldn't chase him. *SNAP*... John had stepped on a stick, and it snapped, alerting the bear of a potential prey for it to eat. The bear turned around and saw John, but John was too fast, he had already ran out of the forest. The bear shrugged it off and kept doing it's thing. John was now twitching and kept looking all around him to make sure another predator hadn't been eyeing him.

Once John had hiked for a few hours, he had finally reached camp on the mountain. He set up his tent near the camp house on the mountain and had setted up a campfire by surrounding a pile of wood with rocks. Once it was getting dark, he had lighted up the campfire and started cooking dinner. He had soup, meat and a chilled nice drink to go with it. It was all going well and once he finished, he took out the fire, readied to cuddle up inside the tent and go to sleep for the next day.

It became the morning. John had woken up to see the beautiful sunset the sky had to offer. It was amazing especially that he had a hot coffee to drink as well. It was so amazing; his eyes couldn't let go of the sunset. With the high view, the giant sun, and a great start in the morning, he said, "Nothing can ever beat this."

John then packed up his tent and equipment, ready to set off further on into the mountain trip as he was almost there to the peak of the mountain - the mountain wasn't that tall, it was one of the smallest mountains in the valley. He kept looking around to see the magnificent view of the other mountains. They we're much taller than the one he was climbing, as he wasn't as experienced as other hikers.

John kept going and going, yet it felt like he wasn't making any progress, he was soon proven wrong as the top of the mountain slowly was revealed to him. He screamed in joy and happiness that he could finally take a picture as a memory of this beautiful journey and view. He stayed at the peak for a few hours till it became the afternoon as he had to go back down to camp as the peak was known to be super dangerous and windy during night. During that time he was up there, he was eating his lunch with his drink that he hadn't finish the night before. While he was going down the mountain back to camp, he sent the photos to his family and relatives as he felt that he had accomplished one of his bucket lists that he had been sitting on for a while.

It took some time for him to get back to camp; but it was much easier than climbing up the mountain to the peak than going down. He felt relieved and instead of setting up his tent like he usually does, he felt that this needed to do something special for special occasions like these. He decided to rent the cabin not too far where he had set up his tent the previous night. He booked it and entered the cabin; he was greeted with staff and a dinner already set up for him and a neatly made bed for him to sleep comfortably in. The start of the experience had already exceeded his expectations and so he enjoyed it. He ate his dinner with joy and finished it off with a fizzy drink - he hadn't drank fizzy drinks for over 6 months now as he was on a diet. After that, he got into his cabin room and got tucked into bed all comfy and delightful.

The next morning, it was time for him to leave and hike back to his car to get back to his house and family. He got out of bed, took a shower, got changed, packed everything and left the cabin, ready to go back to his hiking roots. When he left, he was already anxious about the bear he had encountered the first time he had gone up the mountain.

While he jogged down the hill, he met up with another hiker that had also saw the bear that he was anxious about. They were actually best buddies and had met up several times and set up trips together on certain occasions. As they chatted together and walked down the hill, they heard roaring inside the forest. This made them freeze, their legs were frozen like ice, their tingling skin rose up and a rush of adrenaline rushed through their bodies. Though, the longer they stood there and listened, the more they realised that this was no regular roar, this was a roar for help. The sound felt as if the bear had hurt himself and he needed help. They both decided to investigate but made sure to keep a distance away to make sure that this wasn't a trap.

As they got into view of the bear roaring, the bear indeed was hurt. It had a red, bruised, scratched on its leg; it was laying on its back; it was trying to calm itself down as if a predator had found them hurt like this, it was destined for the bear to get eaten.

John and his buddy felt bad for the bear and wanted to help it, but they didn't know how. They had band-aids, but it would be way too risky to get near it as they were already experienced hikers. Instead, they decided to call in the wild animal support near the camp and surely in just 10 minutes, a whole metal van had popped up out of nowhere. The team were professional so in no time they got trust of the bear, and they carried the bear onto a stretcher to get carried into the van.

Once then the carers thanked the hikers for reporting the bear to them and said that they could head off to their destination. John and his buddy felt relieved and now he had a short story to tell his parents when he gets back home with his buddy.
