5 Pillars of Islam
5 Pillars of Islam
I was wondering, what are the 5 pillars of Islam? I, myself, is a Muslim, so I was wondering, what are they and what do they mean? Let's start with the first one.
Shahada: The Shahada is the Arabic term for the declaration or belief of faith in one God (Allah) and His messenger.
The Arabic text for Shahada is, “Ash-hadu an la ilaha illa Allah, Wa ash-hadu anna Muhammadan Rasulu-Allah.”
Its translation is, “I bear witness that there is no God but God (Allah – i.e. there is none worthy of worship but Allah), and Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah.”
The shahada is a sacred statement in Islam, and it must be recited with full understanding and mindfulness of its meaning.
The belief in one Allah is the central point of the Islamic faith, around which all else revolves. We have to continuously remind our self of this foundational belief, in the recital of the Shahada during each of the five daily prayers, and also in other situations of our Muslim’s life.
The second part of the Shahada requires Muslims to acknowledge and testify to the belief in the Prophet Muhammad SAW as Allah’s messenger. This serves as a reminder to Muslims of the importance of the Prophet Muhammad SAW, but also as a reminder to never mistake as Prophet Muhammed with Allah, for He is just a messenger, and Allah remains one God alone.
Salah: Salah
