After-School Activities

After-School Activities - Day 30

Today I went to go to do an after school activity, - fitness suite, or gym - and when I checked, it was closed. The teacher was off and so I couldn't enter it, and when I checked the bike rack, I realised my friends had already left, meaning that the gym was already closed. But I am thinking to join more after school activities so that I can be more active, and also that I can have more friends and more experience with the after school stuff.

I am thinking to go enter the football after school with my friends as it seems very fun and that the after school activity on football is only for Year 8 and Year 9 - I am year 9 - so the opponents won't be too hard ( hopefully ), and with the help of my friends, I think we can do really good at destroy the other team - that's if we ever actually decide to go play football on Monday, instead of going to fitness suite on Monday.

During when I actually do go to after school activities, I usually and only go to gym, because it's the only one I feel obligated to go to every week because of my DofE ( Duke of Edinburgh ). As for my Duke of Edinburgh, I decided to put down gym for my physical one, as an after school activity, 1 hour every single week. And just in case I don't go to the gym, due to me, or the school problems, I'll instead run in the park, playing football, for a whole hour, maybe a few times a week - even though I am only obligated to do it an hour a week - as sometimes I might just want to go play football for my own joy and fun instead of the Duke of Edinburgh.

Now let me start to talk about what I actually do during my time at the gym. Currently I've gone to the gym about 4 times or 5 times after school, and during those times, I usually like to work on my legs mainly, and a bit on my arms. But ever since I realised that I'm starting to lack muscle in certain areas - like in my wrist, and in my waist ( my core strength ), I've decided to now try to work on my core so that I can try to keep my body straight whenever playing football and when I kick the ball, my body doesn't just fold itself, leading to a horrible shot. Although I am lacking in a bit, I'm still not shifting my main focus, which is my legs. I'm still going to be working on my legs, so that when I kick or shoot the ball very hard, I can launch it very fast, and potentially, help me out on when I do free kicks, penalties, my accuracy, and mainly and most importantly, when I do power shots, either near or far. I want to also be able to control my power on shooting upwards if I'm near or close. I don't want to shoot the ball straight upwards when I'm near.

Inside the gym, there's a treadmill, weights, cycling, skiing, and a few other machines that will help you out on your triceps, bicep, your arms, your legs, your core - the heavy weight balls - and also any other workout that you can think off that you can do on a matt. I really like doing the leg workouts, but the only problem is that some of the leg workout machines are broken, and they can't be pushed back. This can lead to my leg having a lot of discomfort and me not doing the exercise properly. I'm starting to switch to a different machine, in which you push the amount of weight you set it to, and you have to push it sort of diagonally, but upwards. This can help me build up my leg muscles and also help me out on my stance and power whenever I decide to kick really hard during football.

That's pretty much it during the gym. I usually just do that and my core by using the heavy weight balls, and some dumbbells whenever I feel like it. There's also a pull up bar which sometimes I use to train my arm. but also to train my core when I try to test it's strength.

There's not really much else to talk about, but I do have a problem with when I bring my kit to go to an after school activity. Whenever I bring my P.E kit, every single time, my bag is massive and it almost breaks my bag. It actually does break my bag, and over time it did break. The only reason I still use it is because that my mom stitches it for me every single time it fully breaks. That's why now I start putting my coat and my P.E kit inside of my form classroom, but sometimes I get scared that I get locked out of the school and that I can't enter the class, therefore I can't enter to get my coat, and my shoes with my P.E kit. But at least it's better than having to bring around a massive bag around the school every single day and whenever we move to different classes. Thanks for reading.
