Road Trip Pt1
Road Trip Pt 1 - Day 36
Today, we went out again, but instead of going more north, for example going to Blackpool or Leeds, we decided to go more south than we have gone for our current time in the UK. The last time we went on a road trip, we went to the outskirts of London, around the north part of London. This time, we went south, all the way down to the outskirts of the UK and the shore area, in Isle of Wight.
Isle of Wight seems to be a pretty relaxing and beautiful island that is full of nature and that is has many coast and shops around the area. When we had started going to the Isle of Wight, we started packing up our things a day prior to us actually leaving. We started packing up our clothes, outlets, and also this may sound weird, but all of us also packed out laptops and devices to bring on the trip. Usually, when you go on vacation, you don't really bring any devices to experience more of the area your visiting, but we decided to bring our electronics to play on them and to watch on them. This is because the trip is usually boring and we do nothing for the first day as my parents start resting as they just drove 6 hours to the Isle of Wight.
Anyways, when we started going, we rented out a new car because our previous one broke down and we had to get a mini van sort of. The van was small but had a good amount of space. My parents told me that we were actually meant to get a family car like our previous one, but they couldn't give us it as in the UK, for you to rent a premium car, you need to have a credit card, and you can't pay for the premium using debit or cash. So because of that, we had to go and put a £1000 deposit on the car and we got a regular car as well instead of the premium one. It was still fine though, because the van was able to fit our luggage and all 6 of us. We are a pretty big family with 6 people and it takes a lot of space and time for us to all prepare and to get ready. Anyways, by the time we started going, we stopped at the gas station to refill our car and we kept going afterwards.
Luckily for us, we were on time as we all were already ready to set off on the road trip and after a gruelling 6 hours of driving - we also stopped half way about 2 hours in by taking a turn on the highway to buy some KFC and some sandwiches for us to eat - we finally arrived to the coast of the UK, but we weren't at the Isle of Wight yet, as we haven't gotten onto the ferry yet. I'm pretty a sure a ferry is sort of like a cruise, but except having rooms and hotels, they just have arcades, chill lounge, and your meant to move your car from a dock to another dock as a way of transport. Because I'm pretty sure the cruise, your meant to just bring your luggage and your family into a room and your meant to be in that room to chill and relax.
This ferry took a bit of time to reach as we were pretty early to the ferry dock. We also parked at the wrong ferry dock area the first time and the we had to go to a different dock as we soon realised we were at the wrong area. We knew this as there was a massive sign on the building to our right that said the dock we were on and it wasn't the correct one. As we drove to the next one, we took a short path and it led us to a blocked road and so we had to back up and going all around again and it took us a bit of time, but as soon as we arrived there, we had already saw 3 cars parked up ready to go onto the ferry. We made sure by asking the assistant at the ferry help building and she said we were in the correct area and we should park our car here while we wait instead of the parking in the parking lot as we could miss the ferry there. We moved our car, and we slowly waited in the loud dock as the ferry came in. The first few cars went in, then a massive load truck came in and it was very loud. You could hear its loud engines just roaring up, and even when we left our car - as we had already boarded the ferry - we went up to the highest floor on the ferry, ( the fifth floor) and I could still hear the truck, or maybe, that was the ferry all along and I was just hearing stuff. Anyways, there was something really loud down there that I could hear and I just decided to sleep on the ferry couch as I was very sleepy and tired, just like all of my other family members.
It took a bit of time, about 20 to 30 minutes for us to arrived to the next dock which was the Isle of Wight. As we arrived, we got back into our car and started driving out of the dock and into the, what seemed like a nature maze all around the island. It was deserted and empty, it was scary. This was also at night time, so it seemed like it was a horror game ready to give out a jump scare. Luckily we were all okay and as we started entering the places where there were houses, it was still very empty and we were still on a sort of mud road going through the trees and forests, till we had interacted with the first car we had seen. The other car had come to our way so they let us pass, but that was the first car we had seen while going through this dark forest. We soon arrived in the coast city and it was very relieving, but it had a sense of eeriness as most of the buildings looked to be abandoned and dirty, while some were open which was just the hotel, a small shop called Co-op which had stuff like Tesco would have and it was pretty small but it was useful as it gave us easy place to acquire food, snacks and drinks.
We then found a parking spot and we paid for the spot for the night, which only costed about £2 for a night I believe my dad said, or £2 for 3 hours, which then later on he moved the car away to a free spot area and also a place where it was safe and not too far away. ( Next time we went to our car, we had to walk about 15 minutes to get to the car, but anything to save money ). After that, we got all of our luggage, got signed into the hotel, and a guy came out to tell us that our hotel room was limited to 2 Adults and 2 Children, but we were a family of, 2 Adults, ( Maybe three as my brother is 15 years old), 3 Children and a toddler. The guy said that he is going to pretend he never saw us and we continued to enter our room and the elevator didn't work ( even though it worked the day after that while we went down and up ), I believe it didn't work as we were too heavy as we had all of us and all of our luggage. I helped out my mom by carrying most of her luggage and she brought up the massive luggage which my dad couldn't do because he was taking care of our little sister.
We then entered the room and first thing we did was take a big sleep. Until then I decided to set up my laptop and starting playing but the internet was so bad, you couldn't even load up any tabs, it was actually horrendous, even our broadband that we brought with us couldn't get any or barely any signal as the hotel one was actually better than our router that we brought with us. Anyways, the hotel network actually saved me because it was the best internet we could have, then my dad bought Ultimate premier inn internet for £5 for only 24 hours. That is some expensive internet, but that is a time for another day, maybe I'll write about it tomorrow as for now I just kept using the hotel Wi-Fi. Thank you for reading and I hope to continue this story tomorrow. Good bye.
