10/08/2025 News

Hello everyone. This blog is about news that I find out that happen today, that I find myself pretty interesting, and I will report every so often on the blogs I create. I get news off Google and Bing news when I through my usual daily news check. Keep in mind that most information I may gather may not be true and that I'm just summarizing what I find online off Google and Bing.

Journalist killed in Israeli strike feared his own assassination - as IDF claims he was a 'terrorist':  Five Al Jazeera journalists have been killed in an Israeli strike in Gaza - including a reporter who feared he was going to be assassinated.

Anas al Sharif has died alongside with four of his other colleagues from the network; Mohammed Qreiqeh, Ibrahim Zaher, Mohammed Noufal and Moamen Aliwa.

The Committee to Protect Journalists had recently expressed " grave concerns about al Sharif's safety, and has claimed that he was " being targeted by an Israeli military smear campaign. " With the Israel Defence Forces having confirmed the strike - and alleged al Sharif was a " terrorist " who has "responsible for advancing rocket attacks against Israeli civilians and IDF troops. "

Just last month, the reporter had said that he had lived with the " feeling that I could be bombed and martyred at any moment " because of his coverage of Israel's operations " harms them and damages their image in their world. "

As of the 5th of August, at least 186 journalists and media workers have been killed in Gaza - but foreign reporters have been barred from covering the war independently since the latest conflict began in 2023. The Hamas run government has described Israel's killing of these five Al Jazeera journalists as "brutal and heinous. "

A statement was further added as: " The assassination was premeditated and deliberate following a deliberate, direct targeting of the journalists' tent near al Shifa Hospital in Gaza City. "

" The targeting of journalists and media institutions by Israeli aircraft is a full fledged war crime aimed at silencing the truth and obliterating the traces of genocidal crimes. "

Following Anas al Sharif's death, a post was described as his " last will and testament " which was posted on X - previously known as Twitter.

It read; " If these words of mine reach you, know that Israel has succeeded in killing me and silencing my voice. "

The 28 year old further added that he laments being able to fulfill his dream of seeing his son and daughter grow up - and alleged he had witnessed his children's " crushed by thousands of tonnes of Israeli bombs and missiles. "

" Do not forget Gaza... and do not forget me in your prayers for forgiveness and acceptance, " he wrote.

Mo Salah criticises UEFA tribute to 'Palestinian Pele' - and asks: 'Can you tell us how he died?':  UEFA had posted a tribute to al Obeid without mentioning reports that he was killed by an "Israeli airstrike targeting civilians" in Gaza.

Liverpool player, Mo Salah, has criticised the UEFA for not revealing on how a footballer known as " Palestinian Pele " has died as they paid tribute to him in a social media post.

The Palestine Football Association said on Wednesday that Suleiman al Obeid, 41, was killed by an " Israeli airstrike that was targeting civilians " while he waited for humanitarian aid in the southern Gaza Strip on Wednesday.

In a brief post on the social media platform on X ( formerly known as Twitter ) on Friday, the UEFA has called the former national team member " a talent who gave hope to countless children, even in the darkest of times. " Salah, an Egyptian forward who currently plays for Liverpool, who is a devout Muslim responded with, " Can you tell us how he died, where, and why? " UEFA has told Sky Sports that it will not be commenting on the Liverpool footballer's post.

Salah, one of the Premier League's biggest stars, is also arguably the most prominent Arab sportsman in the world. He has previously advocated for humanitarian aid to be allowed into Gaza in the nearly two year on going war. The United Nations has also said that more than 1,000 people have been killed near the aid distribution sites and aid convoys in Gaza since the launch of the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation, a US and Israel backed aid distribution system in late May.

In a tribute on its website, the Palestine Football Association has said al Obeid had two sons and three daughters. It added that the footballer was born in Gaza City and played for clubs based in both Gaza and the West Bank.

More than 500 people arrested after Palestine Action protest - with almost half aged 60 and above:  Some 522 arrests were for displaying a placard in support of a proscribed organisation contrary to Section 13 of the Terrorism Act 2000. As of 9 pm on Saturday, the number was put at 466.

The number of people that were arrested after a protest in London on Saturday supporting the banned group Palestine Action has risen to 532, police have reported.

Around of half of them ( about 259 people ) were aged 60 and above - while including almost 100 people who were in their 70's. Some of the 522 arrests were for displaying a placard in support of a proscribed organisation contrary to Section 13 of the Terrorism Act 2000, according to the Metropolitan Police.

As of 9 pm on Saturday, the number was put at 466. Hundreds of people attended the demonstration in Parliament Square, organised by the Defend our Juries, with the Metropolitan Police warning that it would arrest anyone expressing backing for the Palestine Action. Membership of, or support for, Palestine Action is currently considered a criminal offence that is punishable by up to 14 years in prison as it apparently falls under the Terrorism Act.

In a post on X - Twitter - shortly just after 6:45 pm on Sunday, Defend Our Juries has said that every person arrested in the square had been released from police custody and that none had been charged of anything. One of the arrests took place as the Palestine Coalition march had formed in Russell Square, while the other 521 were at the protest.

Of those arrested, the biggest number - 147 of them - was in the age group range of 60 to 69, while another 97 people were aged from 70 to 79, and 15 others were between 80 to 89.

Six were aged 17 to 19, sixty five were in the 20 to 29 age group range, fifty five were aged 30 to 39, forty five were aged 40 to 49, and eighty - nine were aged 50 to 59 age group.

The average of those who were arrested was 54, while some 263 of those who were arrested were male, while 261 were female, and eight of those who either defined themselves as non binary or did not disclose their gender.

Among the arrests, six of those were for assaults on officers ( none were seriously injured ), one was for " obstructing a constable in the execution of his / her duty, " two which were for breaching the Section 14 Public Order Act conditions, and one of them were for racially aggravated public order offence. Anyone of who was arrested as part of the operation was token to one of two prisoner processing points in the Westminster area.

Those whose details that could be confirmed were released on bail to appear at a police station at a future date. They were also given conditions to not attend future demonstrations related to the Palestine Action. While those who refused to provide their details at the prisoner processing points and those who were found to have been arrested while already on bail, were taken to one of a number of Met Police custody suites.

The Charity Amnesty International described the mass arrests under UK terrorism laws as " deeply concerning. "

The crowd, sat on the grass inside Parliament Square, who could be seen writing " I oppose genocide, I support Palestine Action " on white placards at 1 pm, with the vast majority remaining silent. Meanwhile, on Sunday, hundreds of people who joined a march on Downing Street to urge the release of those being held in Gaza by Palestinian militant group Hamas.

A scuffle broke out after at least two men shouted " Free Palestine " in front of the march. One of the man was seen being bundled to the ground close to the Trafalgar Square after being surrounded by a dozen of people. While another man was seen being moved away by police officers after he began shouting.

Those are some news that I found interesting today throughout Bing and Google. These news prioritized the current situation of the Israel and Palestine war and how people are revolting against the Israeli's as protests begin to stop the genocide in Gaza and West Bank. I hope over time I should be able to adapt and learn to make these more shorter, summarized and hopefully, more informative. Thank you for reading.
